Ford Model A Door Hinges
We now machine Model A door hinges. We realized there was a need for good quality door hinges for the collector car enthusiasts and hotrodders out there. Our hinges were produced by first reverse engineering some stock hinges, then machining them out of solid steel. They are now sold across the US and internationally.
Sculpture
Guided by the designer and sculptor, Joe Clinton, we machined the components of this geometric sculpture. Each petal was machined separately and then pieced together using pins. The end result is a striking piece of art.
TED AwardWe machined the spherical portion of this sculpture. It is an 8" sphere with 3 ripple patterns evenly spaced on the surface. The sphere is magnetically levitated above the base. It was produced for the sculptor Tom Shannon, who was commissioned by the TED Community. The sculpture was presented as an award to three outstanding individuals in the areas of technology, entertainment, and design. The entertainer who received the award 2 years ago was Bono of U2 for his humanitarian efforts in Africa.
Prototype PropellerWe developed a propeller machining process for Michigan Wheel. This produced a higher quality prop than the typical cast and polish method, and is currently in use at Michigan Wheel. To develop this process we employed 3D solids and creative High Speed Machining.
